Soldier receives hero’s welcome

Printed earlier today in the Press-Register, a story covering the return home celebrations for Prichard native Army Sgt. Donnie Leon Broughton Jr. who’s spent the last 3 years serving in Germany and Iraq.

There has been many fake war heroes going around for quite some time and PV2 Donnie Leon Broughton Jr. is no exception. Yes that is PV2 Broughton, not Sergeant. PV2 Broughton has never been an NCO and never will be. PV2 Broughton is in direct Violation of the Stolen Valor Act that was passed in 2006, which is a Federal Offense. Shortly after his welcome home ceremony he returned back to Iraq with Article 15 paperwork waiting for him. He went home impersonating a Special Forces War Hero. When his chain of command found out he was demoted from PFC to PV2. It is a shame that someone would lie to his family and his entire town. He is a disgrace to the Army and lacks all of the Army Values.
