Pinson mourns loss of a hero
August 21, 2009 by Nicki Faulk
Our thoughts and prayers go out to PFC VanOsdol’s loved ones:
The Pentagon says a 23-year-old soldier from Pinson, Ala., has been killed in Iraq. The Army says Pfc. William Zachary VanOsdol, died Wednesday at Ad Diwaniyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when enemy rocket fire struck his quarters.
VanOsdol was a 2005 graduate of Pinson Valley High School and was assigned to the Army’s 172nd Support Battalion, Schweinfurt, Germany.

I just want everyone to know that although Will and his dad are now united and God has definately gained a true angel, we have lost a great man. I have been fortunate to watch this young man turn from a boy to a hero over many years as he was a very important member of our family and a best friend and brother of my daughter Jessica. Although they will not be able to do all the things they planned together, I know he is in heaven watching over her making sure that all her dreams and promises come true. Will you will always be missed and a large part of our hearts.
